Our WISH Scholars

In 2021, we were honored to offer our first WISH grant of $100 to five deserving, talented girls from around Houston. We’re so excited to share their stories below!

Yassia Aleman, she/her

Yassia will be an eighth grader at Project Chrysalis Middle School for the 2021-2022 school year.

I’m very passionate about history. I get to learn new things about how our country was formed. History has been very interesting to me and I hope I get to learn more about it in the future.

Jaslene Caudillo, she/her

Jaslene will be an eighth grader at Project Chrysalis Middle School for the 2021-2022 school year.

I enjoy learning about the historical figures that WISH uses to encourage girls to be themselves. I also enjoy spending fun times with family and friends while creating the best memories. I’m grateful for my mentor and being part of this amazing program.

Ilia Rivera, she/her

Ilia will be an eighth grader at Alexander Hamilton Middle School for the 2021-2022 school year.

I am very passionate about art and love to create on my own while listening to music. It relaxes me and makes me feel good. I also love to dance and I am in the dance team at school, Sapphires, which has helped me develop my dance skills. I am thankful to be a part of WISH and hope to continue next year!

Sofia Nathalie Soto, she/her

Sofia will be an eighth grader at Project Chrysalis Middle School for the 2021-2022 school year.

“My passion is art and book writing. Both can make me express myself and I can make art or a book of modern day problems.”
